This Sterling stamp on Rafinha was a controversial incident from City’s clash against Leeds earlier today. Raheem Sterling appeared to stamp Raphinha, but no card was given. Leeds had a player sent off by VAR in the same fixture- see Liam Cooper red card v Man City for tackle on Jesus.

  1. The ” tackle” by Fernandinho on Raphinha was more deserving of a red card than Cooper’s. Both Jesus and Cooper were intent on winning the ball and a collision of some sort was unavoidable. In the old days that would have been a good tackle with no consequences. Fernandinho’s was a deliberate, premeditated and cynical foul to bring down the man with no attempt to play the ball.
