List of own goals at Euro 2021 | Games in which OG scored by players at European Championships 2020

Here is a list of own goals scored at the 2020 European Championships (held in June/July 2021). Euro 2020 also holds the record for most own goals scored at a European Championship final tournament.

List of the eleven (11) own goals at Euro 2021 so far (last updated July 7, 2021 after Simon Kjaer own goal vs England for Denmark)

1) Turkey 0-1 Italy (Demiral own goal 53′ | Group A | June 11, 2021)

This own goal by Juve defender Demiral was also the first/opening goal of Euro 2020.

2) Poland 0-1 Slovakia (Szczesny own goal 18′ | Group E | June 14, 2021)

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny scored the second own goal of Euro 2021.

3) France 1-0 Germany (Hummels own goal 20′ | Group F | June 15, 2021)

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels with the third own goal of Euro 2021

4) Portugal 1-1 Germany (Ruben Dias own goal 35′ | Group F | June 19, 2021)
5) Portugal 1-2 Germany (Raphael Guerreiro own goal 39′ | Group F | June 19, 2021)

Man City’s Ruben Dias and Dortmund’s Raphael with own goals against Germany in the SAME game- the fourth and 5th OG’s of EM 2021 respectively.

6) Finland 0-1 Belgium (Lukas Hradecky own goal 74′ | Group B | June 21, 2021)

Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Hradecky scored the sixth own goal of Euro 2021 against Belgium.

7) Spain 0-1 Slovakia (Martin Dubravka own goal 30′ | Group E | June 23, 2021)
8) Spain 0-5 Slovakia (Juraj Kucka own goal 71′ | Group E| June 23, 2021)

Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and Parma midfielder Juraj Kucka scored the 7th and 8th own goals of Euro 2021 respectively in Slovakia’s last group game against Spain.

9) Croatia 1-0 Spain (Pedri own goal 20′ | Round of 16 | June 28, 2021)

Barcelona midfielder Pedri scored the 9th own goal of Euro 2021 in their Round of 16 clash against Croatia in Copenhagen. This Spain own goal against Croatia was originally credited to goalkeeper Unai Simon, and later changed by the officials to Barca’s Pedri.

10) Switzerland 0-1 Spain (Zakaria own goal 8′ | Quarterfinal | July 2, 2021)

Gladbach’s Denis Zakaria scored the tenth own goal of Euro 2021 in Switzerland’s QF against Spain.

11) England 1-1 Denmark (Simon Kjaer own goal 39′ | Semi-final | July 7, 2021)

Denmark skipper Simon Kjaer scored the 11th own goal of Euro 2020 in their SF against England.

Who scored the first own goal of Euro 2021?

The first own goal of Euro 2021 was scored by Juve’s Merih Demiral (Turkey) against Italy.

How many own goals have been scored in Euro 2020?

As of July 7, 2021, 11 own goals have been scored at Euro 2020. Group F and Group E had the most own goals at Euro 2021, with three each, while Group A & B had one each. One own goal each was scored in the Round of 16, the quarterfinals and semi-finals.

2 own goals each have been scored by Dortmund and Juve players (Hummels & Raphael for BVB and Demiral & Szczesny for Juventus), with one each from Man City (Dias), Bayer Leverkusen (Hradecky), Newcastle (Dubravka), Parma (Kucka), Barcelona (Pedri), Borussia Monchengladbach (Zakaria) and AC Milan (Kjaer)

    Clubs from Italy, Germany, Spain and England (Europe’s big four leagues) have now all scored own goals.

    Waiting for a Ligue 1 entrant to the list…..
