Spain squad 2018 for Argentina Germany friendlies- No Morata, Sergio Roberto in Spanish roster

The Spain squad for their upcoming friendlies against Germany (Friday March 23 – Dusseldorf) and Argentina Tuesday March 27 – Wanda Metropolitano, Madrid) has been announced today (March 16, 2018), and coach Julien Lopetegui has sprung a few surprises after choosing to leave out Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata and Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto. Diego Costa, whose spot at Chelsea was effectively taken by Morata, was however picked in the squad.

The Spanish roster also has no place for domestic players like Espanyol’s Gerard Moreno and Sevilla’s Pablo Sarabia. Lopetegui also insisted that the door was not closed on World Cup selection for those who missed out on this squad.

Spain squad vs Germany & Argentina 2018:- De Gea, Kepa, Reina, Jordi Alba, Marcos Alonso, Nacho, Carvajal, Azpi, Odriozola, Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique, Isco, Thiago Alcantara, David Silva, Andres Iniesta, Saul Niguez, Dani Parejo, Koke, Rodri, Asensio, Aspas, Rodrigo, Diego Costa, Lucas Vazquez

Champions League Quarterfinal Draw 2018 Result- Sevilla vs Bayern and Liverpool v Man City in last eight

The draw for the 2018/19 Champions League quarterfinals were made today (March 16, 2018) and they’ve thrown up some interesting clashes. There will be only one English representative in the last four after Liverpool were drawn against Man City in the quarterfinals. The last quarterfinal is between Barcelona and Roma, a repeat of the group stage clash between the two teams from the 2015/16 season.

There are three Spanish clubs in the last eight (Barca, Real and Sevilla), two from Italy (Juve, Roma) and England (Liverpool, Man City) and one from Germany (Bayern)

Griezmann to Barca? Reports indicate 100m release clause deal in summer

If reports in Spain are to be believed, Barcelona have agreed a deal with Antoine Griezmann and will sign the French striker in the summer. The 27 year old will be acquired for a fee of 100 million euros (his release clause), but his arrival will mean that the Blaugrana will have a wealth of attacking talent at their disposal- they already have Messi, Suarez, Coutinho and Dembele, and Griezmann at the Nou Camp would effectively make it a “Famous Five” or a “Fantastic Five”. It would also see Griezmann at the same club as his French national teammate Samuel Umtiti.

Atleti have recently sold Nicolas Gaitan and Yannick Carrasco to Dalian in China. Augusto Fernandez has also left for the Far East, while Luciano Vietto has been loaned to Valencia with an option to buy. Veteran Fernando Torres is also likely to depart the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer. Should Griezmann leave, it does raise doubts over whether Los Colchoneros can continue to be a threat to the Real-Barca hegemony in Spain. Atleti are currently second in Spain and have reached the last 16 of the Europa League
