SC Freiburg sign Vitali Rodionov

2.Bundesliga club SC Freiburg have signed Belarus striker Vitali Rodionov on loan from BATE Borisov. Rodionov, 23, has scored 35 goals for the Belarussian champions in the last three seasons, and has been capped 10 times at international level.

Freiburg have an option to complete Rodionov’s signing on a permanent basis when the season ends.

Rodionov had joined BATE from Torpedo Zhodino in 2005. Prior to that he was with Lokomotiv Vitebsk.

Lucas Bernardi leaves AS Monaco

Argentine midfielder Lucas Bernardi has left Ligue 1 club AS Monaco after seven seasons in the Principality. Bernardi arrived at Monaco from Marseille in 2001, and made 228 appearances for Les Rouge et Blanc. A defensive midfielder, known for his commitment and hard work in the centre of the park, Bernardi was part of the Monaco side that won the 2003 French Cup. He was also part of the side that lost the 2004 Champions League final to Jose Mourinho’s FC Porto.

Bernardi is likely to return to Newell’s Old Boys, the club where he made his name before leaving for France.
