Tottenham Hotspur survived the first half dismissal of Jermain Defoe to bag a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Boxing Day. Both the Spurs goals came from Dutch playmaker Rafael van der Vaart.
Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Chelsea ( Roman Pavlyuchenko/ Didier Drogba)
Chelsea fail to end their winless run as they draw 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur in a fast and frenetic game at White Hart Lane.
Striker Didier Drogba missed a stoppage time penalty for Chelsea which was saved by Heurelho Gomes, Tottenham’s Brazilian goalkeeper who gave away the penalty and was also at fault for Drogba’s equaliser.
Prior to Drogba’s missed penalty, Roman Pavlyuchenko had given Tottenham the lead with an excellent finish. Drogba equalised for Chelsea with a powerful shot that was spilt by Gomes.
