Portsmouth striker Kanu has said that he is eager to return to Dutch giants Ajax. Kanu had an earlier stint with Ajax in the mid 90’s where he scored 25 goals in 54 appearances.
Ajax signed him for about 200, 000 euros from Iwuanyanwu Nationale after he impressed scouts at the u-17 world championships. He also starred in the 1995 Champions League win over AC Milan ( as a substitute). He moved to AC’s rivals Inter for a reported fee of 4.7 million $.
Kanu is Portsmouth’s highest scorer this season with 9, and has been one of the major factors in the success of the South Coast club this season. He came on a free to Fratton Park, and is currently third on the Premier Division’s highest scorers.
Ajax aren’t topping the Dutch league these days, and they could do with a player of Kanu’s ability. The likes of Huntelaar would learn a lot from the Nigerian.
