Here is a look at the xG (expected goals) stats from France vs Morocco (2022 World Cup semi-final on December 14, 2022). France won 2-0 thanks to goals from Theo Hernandez and substitute Randal Kolo Muani.

The more clear cut chances went to France- Giroud (17′) hit the woodwork first and then (36′) lashed over from close range after Mbappe had slipped while attempting a shot. Marcus Thuram (71′) had a decent header chance as well. Morocco’s El Yamiq (44′) acrobatically hit the woodwork before half time, and Hamdallah had a couple of decent opportunities after the interval- one where he failed to shoot, and the other deep into second half stoppage time.
