Everton’s Tim Cahill scored in the 74th minute to allow Australia to beat Claude Le Roy’s Oman in Melbourne. Cahill had also scored a late equaliser against Oman when the two sides met in 2007, and he was to prove their nemesis again.

Everton Limited Edition Purple Kit- Liverpool Unites

Everton have launched a new purple kit to raise £100,000 for the Liverpool Unites children’s charity. The first images of the purple shirt were released on October 9, and it will be officially launched at a public dinner at Goodison Park on October 29. You can pre-order the new limited edition jersey from the Everton club shop, and deliveries will begin on October 30.

The design, which sees the Everton crest on a purple shirt for the first time in the club’s 131 year history, is proving to be a massive hit with the fans, and is the club’s fastest ever selling shirt. Every shirt will be boxed, numbered and the buyer will also be presented with a certificate of authority.

England vs Belarus preview- WC 2010 Qualifying

England vs Belarus– October 14th Saturday, at Wembley (20.00 UK Time)-

Football returns to television this Wednesday ( after the internet only stream of the weekend qualifier against Ukraine) as England host Belarus in their final Group 6 qualifier. Fabio Capello’s men have already booked thier spot at the 2010 World Cup finals, but will be keen to preserve their unbeaten home record in European qualifying.

England were beaten 1-0 by Ukraine on Saturday, thereby giving coach Fabio Capello his first competitive defeat as manager of the Three Lions. But England are yet to be defeated at home in qualifying, and Capello will want the side to end their campaign in style at Wembley.

Who is suspended : Robert Green

A calamitous piece of defending from Rio Ferdinand saw Robert Green become the first ever England goalkeeper to be sent off at senior international level. Rooney, England’s standout player on Saturday, has been ruled out of this clash with a calf injury. Rooney is also England’s highest scorer in qualifying with nine goals to his name.
