Interestingly, here is the SPFL table at the time of the split in the previous 2024-25 season, and we see some massive changes- Hearts were 7th at this time last season, but are top of the Scottish Prem after 33 games in 25/26. Motherwell were 8th in April 2025, but are fourth in April 2026.

Here is a look at the Scottish Premiership league table at Christmas 2025– the SPFL league standings for the current 2025-26 season as it stood on December 25, 2025.

Having a team other than Celtic or Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League is a rarity, but Heart of Midlothian managed it at Christmas 2025. Hearts had a six point lead over Celtic at Christmas 2025, and a 12 point one over Rangers FC.

Video Yang vs Cochrane Incident 2024 | Yang Celtic red card v Hearts

This Yang Hyun-Jun red card vs Hearts (VIDEO BELOW) saw the Celtic player sent off for a dangerous foul in the 16th minute of the game. Yang’s foot was raised, and the perceived nature of the kick saw VAR upgrade his original yellow to a red card. The Yang dismissal for Celtic changed the game- they had also missed an earlier penalty through Idah (Yang and Cochrane were involved in that incident too!)
