Here is a look at the SC Freiburg vs Aston Villa player ratings from the big European sports newspapers following their Europa League final on 20 May, 2026.

This was the first of three continental finals this month to feature English teams (with Palace in the UECL final and Arsenal in the UCL final), and Villa won the Europa League comfortably by beating Freiburg 3-0.

Freiburg were quite poor on the night, as shown from these player ratings from L’Equipe. They got an average team rating of 3.7/10 and were comfortably second best to Villa, for whom Tielemans and Buendia were excellent. Ollie Watkins had an average outing though.

French referee Letexier had a decent game, and Arsenal will be hoping that the German referee for their UCL final against PSG has a good one too.

Here is a look at the Braga vs SC Freiburg player ratings from the big Portuguese newspapers from their UEL semi-final (first leg) game. Braga won the game 2-1 thanks to a late Dorgeles goal, although Ginter and Atubolu could’ve probably done better in the defending for that goal.

O Jogo had Victor Gomez as the pick of the Braga players against Freiburg, giving him a 8/10 player rating. Goal scorers Tiknaz and Dorgeles (who came off the bench as a substitute) weren’t too far behind with a 7/10.

The Portuguese newspaper thought Matanovic offered very little of note for Freiburg upfront- he got a 4/10 there.

FSV Mainz vs RC Strasbourg Alsace 2-0 Player Ratings 2026 UECL- Enciso, Penders, Sano & others

Here are the FSV Mainz vs RC Strasbourg player ratings from the big European sports newspapers following the first leg of their Conference League quarter-final. Mainz beat RCSA 2-0 in Leg 1, and we have ratings from French paper L’Equipe and German paper Bild.

Strasbourg topped the UECL league phase stage earlier this season and have a number of players from Chelsea in their ranks.

Former Brighton forward Julio Enciso had a shocker of a game for RCSA, with L’Equipe giving him a 2/10 rating. The French newspaper thought RCSA goalkeeper Mike Penders (on loan from Chelsea) was the best of an average bunch on the evening (RCSA as a team got a 4.1/10 rating and coach Gary O’Neil got a 3/10). Former CFC left back Ben Chilwell got a 5/10 here.
