Thomas Hitzlsperger Gay- Former Villa and Everton medio announces he is gay in Die Zeit

Former Everton and Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has publicly announced that he is gay. Hitzlsperger, capped over 50 times by Germany, made the revelation in Die Zeit. Hitzlsperger retired from football in September last year.

The 31 year old is the most prominent footballer to profess his homosexuality. Others to have done so in recent years are former Leeds winger Robbie Rogers and Swedish player Anton Hysen.

Hitzlsperger said that he had only realised his preference in the last few years and would “prefer to live together with another man”.

Video- Did Vincent Tan boo his own team Cardiff after Sunderland draw?

Days after the controversy involving Malky McKay, Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan was allegedly seen booing his own team after they squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against Sunderland on December 28, 2013.

Tan appeared to mouth Boo, but then laughed as can be seen in the video below, leading to uncertainty whether he had actually booed his side or was just having a joke by imitating the booing fans.
