Manchester City ride on the back of a hat trick from Italian striker Mario Balotelli to beat Gerard Houllier’s Aston Villa 4-0. Two of Balotelli’s three goals came from the penalty spot.

Manchester City beat Newcastle United 3-1 at St.James’ Park to keep pace with rivals Manchester United. Two early goals from Barry and Tevez and a late strike from the latter were enough for Roberto Mancini’s City to claim victory on Tyneside on Boxing Day.

Fourth consecutive win for Everton over Man City at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Everton continued their recent league dominance over Manchester City as they beat Roberto Mancini’s side 2-1 at Eastlands on Monday night.
Both City and Everton ended the game with ten men each following red cards to Kolo Toure & Victor Anichebe respectively.
It was a disappointing result for Man City, given that they could have topped the table had they beaten the Toffees.
