This keenly anticipated Tottenham Manchester United fixture ended in a goalless draw. Tottenham probably shaded the game, but United, marshalled by Nemanja Vidic at the back, held firm to claim a point after they had been reduced to ten men after the sending off of young Brazilian Rafael.
This Ryan Giggs penalty vs Liverpool gave Manchester United the lead against their opponents in the third round FA Cup tie on January 9, 2011
The Giggs penalty came in somewhat controversial circumstances as Liverpool defender Daniel Agger seemed to make minimal contact with Dimitar Berbatov (see penalty video below), leading to several Reds fans branding it a Berbatov dive. Howard Webb was the referee who awarded the penalty.
This was also the first goal conceded by Liverpool with Kenny Dalglish as manager.
