Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will miss England’s international friendly against Germany after tearing his leg muscle in the Reds’ 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers yesterday. Gerrard, who also scored in that game, has tore his adductus magnor muscle in his right leg, and could be out for anywhere between 7-10 days.
Bolton Wanderers target Alex Witsel
According to reports, Gary Megson is set to make a six million pound bid for Standard Liege star Alex Witsel in the winter transfer window. The Belgian teenager, 19, can play both on the wings and in the centre, and rejected offers from Arsenal and Real Madrid when he was all of 15 years old. However Megson’s chances are limited, because Standard think £6m is too low, and that his valuation is somewhere between £12m- £15m.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter Milan and Chelsea are also tracking the youngster’s progress.

Spartak Moscow 1-2 Udinese- UEFA Group D
A brace from Fabio Quagliarella helped Udinese beat Spartak Moscow 2-1 at the Luzhniki Stadium on Thursday night. Playing their first game against Russian opposition, Pasquale Marino’s side got the result they wanted, are currently lead group D with six points from two games. They had beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in their first game.
