Here is a look at the Scottish Premiership league table at Christmas 2025– the SPFL league standings for the current 2025-26 season as it stood on December 25, 2025.

Having a team other than Celtic or Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League is a rarity, but Heart of Midlothian managed it at Christmas 2025. Hearts had a six point lead over Celtic at Christmas 2025, and a 12 point one over Rangers FC.

Hearts top of the 25/26 SPL table at Xmas, followed by Celtic, Motherwell and Rangers.

This Yang Hyun-Jun red card vs Hearts (VIDEO BELOW) saw the Celtic player sent off for a dangerous foul in the 16th minute of the game. Yang’s foot was raised, and the perceived nature of the kick saw VAR upgrade his original yellow to a red card. The Yang dismissal for Celtic changed the game- they had also missed an earlier penalty through Idah (Yang and Cochrane were involved in that incident too!)

Heart of Midlothian keeper Zander Clark saved Idah’s penalty with his foot, and with the scores at 0-0 then, it proved to be a crucial turning point as HMFC ran out 2-0 winners at the end
