Argentine star Lionel Messi had an incredible 2012, scoring a whopping 91 goals in the calendar year for club and country. In the process, the forward broke Gerd Muller’s longstanding record of 85 goals ( for Germany and Bayern in 1972). Messi started 2012 with a goal against Osasuna and ended it with one in Barca’s 3-1 win over Real Valladolid.
