Club World Cup Round of 16 Bracket- Chelsea’s potential opponents & route to the final

The Round of 16 draw for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has been completed, and here’s a look at whom Chelsea FC could face and whom they have to defeat if they are to progress to the final.

Chelsea surprisingly finished second in Group D (D2), which meant they’d face the winners of Group C (C1) in the Round of 16. Bayern were originally expected to win Group C, but surprisingly lost to Benfica on the final group day, which has made the Portuguese side Chelsea’s opponents in the Round of 16

v Palmeiras/Botafogo (Quarter Final in Philadelphia- Chelsea played two group games at this venue)

As you can see, there’s a genuine chance of Chelsea squaring off against Manchester City in the semis. MCFC have Al-Hilal in the Round of 16 and if they win, will take on the winner of Inter v Fluminense in the quarterfinal.

Here is a look at the player ratings from some of the big European sports newspapers following Portugal’s stunning Nations League win over Spain. The game ended 2-2 after normal time (Ronaldo scored for Portugal), but the Selecao prevailed in the shootout as Morata missed his penalty.

Not surprisingly, L’Equipe had left back Nuno Mendes as the pick of the players in the UNL final. The PSG left back got a 8/10 rating (the highest of all the players) and the Spanish players on his opposite side (Yamal and Mingueza got a 3/10 and 2/10 respectively!)

Here is a look at the player ratings for Spain vs France in the Nations League semifinal from the big French and Spanish newspapers. European champions Spain beat the French 5-4 in a nine-goal thriller to advance a final showdown against Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo.
