Here is a look at the European newspaper player ratings for England vs Netherlands. The Three Lions edged this clash 2-1 and we have ratings from French, German as well as Spanish papers (England will meet Spain in the final).

L’Equipe player ratings for England vs Netherlands

The French paper thought Arsenal midfielder Rice had a rare off-day (he was dispossessed for the Simons goal), and gave him a 5. Saka got a 6, while Real Madrid star Bellingham was given a 3.

L’Equipe was also unhappy with the performance of referee Felix Zwayer, giving him a 4/10 ref rating.

Xavi Simons was the only player on either side to get a 2- no one got the best 1 rating. It was a pretty average game by Bild’s standards, as demonstrated by the number of 3’s and 4’s in terms of player ratings that they gave both sides.

Xavi Simons’ goal against England in their Euro 2024 semifinal had a shot power of 116 km/h, as shown by the official broadcasters on TV. Simons’ goal put the Netherlands 1-0 up in the 7th minute- a powerful effort that Three Lions goalkeeper Jordan Pickford got a hand to, but was simply unable to stop from going into the back of the net.

Simons’ goal came from around 21 meters out and had a xG of 0.04 (Yamal’s goal was from 25m out and had slightly lesser speed than Simons’ one)

However, Yamal’s goal had a spin of 6 (RPS), but that value was 1 for Simons’ strike (see above)

Simons dispossessed Arsenal’s Declan Rice in midfield- not many folks manage to do so, before unleashing his thunderbolt. It was his second international goal for the Netherlands and meant that Gareth Southgate’s England had conceded first in each of their knockout games at these Euros (v Slovakia, v Switzerland and now Holland)

Here is a look at the England v Switzerland player ratings from the big European newspapers. We’ve got ratings from French, Spanish and German newspapers here. England created very little on xG against the Swiss, but advanced to the semis on penalties (they won 5-4)

L’Equipe player ratings ENG 1-1 SUI Euro 2024

French paper L’Equipe had Bukayo Saka as the pick of the English players, giving him a 8/10. Behind him were Arsenal team mate Declan Rice and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (both 7/10).

The worst ratings (3/10) were reserved for Walker and Aebischer, with Kane and Foden getting a 4/10.

Both teams weren’t great on the day, but L’Equipe had the Swiss as marginally better (team rating of 5.2 versus 5.1/10 for England)

A 6 was given to Aebischer, with Kane and Foden closely behind at 5. Bild had Saka as the best on the English side (rating 2) with Schar and Embolo on the Swiss one (also 2). Nobody got a 1 rating though.
